Welcome to My World: The Monthly Brief + What's on The Docket
Realizing we’ve been a ways into this journey and I never introduced myself—so what better time than now? My name is Alexis. Everyone calls me Lexi, except for my family and professors truthfully, only because on the first day of classes I’m too nervous to do any more talking than I have to, so I never share that I go by Lexi.
I went to Monmouth University, where I earned a Political Science degree with a concentration in Legal Studies on a pre-law track, and I minored in Social Justice and Criminal Justice. For the pre-law students reading this: please, major in something you genuinely enjoy. Not that I didn’t enjoy my major I truly do love reading, writing, and understanding different ideologies, but I only chose Poli Sci (as we call it) because I thought it was what you had to do for law school. Spoiler alert: not the case at all.
I’m now in law school at Rutgers University and entering my final year praise me, I made it to 3L! It’s been a journey, to say the least (which I’ll dive into in a separate post).
Now that I’m finished with my elevator pitch—the real Lexi LOVES Hamilton. If you read my last post, I just got to see it on Broadway front row, and it was truly up there with one of the best days of my life. I love the city, trying new restaurants, events, and all sorts of experiences. In fact, my favorite activity is discovering a new restaurant, sipping a delicious cocktail, and laughing until our bellies hurt. Luckily for me, the universe has sent me the funniest people go be my friends and family, so this happens often.
That’s pretty much me! Happy to have you all here, and I look forward to meeting new friends in the comments. In fact, introduce yourself in the comments!
Now that I’ve introduced myself and you all have a little insight into the things I enjoy, I thought it’d be fun to start a new segment called The Monthly Brief, where I share the things I’ve been getting into over the past month.
Here’s the June Edition (and yes, I know one of these things happened in July but it was too good not to include).
First up, I tried a new brunch spot in the city, and it was giving everything it needed to give vibes, mimosas, and food that lived up to the hype. Brunch really is my happy place.
I Bought tickets to Davido in concert with my best friend
As you already know, I saw Hamilton front row (still screaming). And yes, I have to include a visual of just how close we were. Like… eye contact-level close. Unreal.
I went to a NY Liberty game because—say it with me—Everyone Watches Women’s Sports! I love sports period, and that absolutely includes women’s sports. Pay those women what they deserve!
And finally, I’ve been interning, so you already know what that means: office fit checks. I’m in the office more than I’m outside lately, so I have to document the looks. A smart casual office for sure.
That’s it for this month’s brief, June was packed and July’s off to a strong start. Let me know what you’ve been loving lately in the comments, and drop any NYC brunch recs while you’re at it. 💌
By nature, I’m always looking ahead to the next thing, so I wanted to create a space for that energy: On the Docket is where I’ll share what I’m looking forward to.
I’m really excited for the rest of the year. Just like I shared in my last post, I’ve been doing well with crossing things off my 2025 Bingo Board, and there’s still plenty more to come!
First up: my birthday is exactly a month away, and I’m getting excited to step into my 25th year. In true Lexi fashion I am trying a new restaurant and I cannot wait, the reservation is already set!
Additionally, Shopping has always been something I love, but over the past year, I’ve been really focused on curating a wardrobe I’m proud of, elevated basics, sleek silhouettes, and timeless pieces that feel like me. I’m especially looking forward to adding to that with a little back-to-school shopping (a tradition I will never let go of, personally).
I’ve also got a new tattoo coming up! I hinted at this before, but ladybugs hold immense meaning in my life, and my sister and I are getting matching ladybug tattoos. It’s a birthday activity, but also I’ve been itching to add to my collection, and this one feels especially special. It's been a while since my last tattoo, and I’m excited to start finishing up a few ideas I’ve had on my mind.
And finally…. the thing I’m most excited for, even though it’s a bit further out is graduation. I’m a Class of 2026 grad, and I cannot wait for this blessing to come to fruition. It still feels surreal that it’s around the corner, but I’m beyond ready.
